Upon the installation of your NSM...before you can add you IDP appliance, you must update the attack database...this would mean.. your nsm server will query the juniper website where the idp attack database resides...
one of the requirements on updating the attack database is that your nsm server must have direct access to the internet...with proper dns configured.
Once this is addressed, just click on the NSM Tools > View/Update NSM Attack Database.
